Title: Solution Architect (Avaya)

Location: Portland, OR or Seattle, WA preferred; Spokane, WA, Boise, ID, or Billings, MT also considered.

Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $115,000 - $140,000 Annually

Position Overview

The Solution Architect is a customer-facing, pre-sales role responsible for designing Unified Communications and Contact Center solutions that address customer business and technical requirements. Working closely with the sales team, this position engages directly with customers to understand their environments, uncover requirements, and develop solutions that align with their communications and collaboration needs.

This role requires strong knowledge of enterprise voice technologies and the Avaya solution design process, along with the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solution architectures. The ideal candidate combines technical depth across Avaya, Microsoft Teams voice, Session Border Controllers, and related communications technologies with strong consultative and customer-facing skills. Regular customer meetings and solution-development discussions are a core part of the position.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with sales teams throughout the pre-sales process to develop Unified Communications and Contact Center solutions for prospective and existing customers.
• Lead regular customer discovery and solution-design meetings to understand business objectives, technical requirements, existing environments, and future-state needs.
• Design Avaya-based communications solutions using established Avaya architecture and design methodologies.
• Assess existing enterprise voice environments and develop recommendations for new implementations, migrations, upgrades, and integrations.
• Translate customer requirements into scalable technical architectures and clearly communicate proposed solutions to technical and business stakeholders.
• Develop solution designs incorporating technologies such as Avaya Aura, Session Border Controllers, AudioCodes, Microsoft Teams Calling, Direct Routing, and related enterprise voice infrastructure.
• Design SIP connectivity and integrations between Avaya environments, SBCs, carriers, Microsoft Teams, and third-party telephony platforms.
• Incorporate contact center technologies and integrations into solution designs based on customer requirements.
• Address carrier voice connectivity, E911, voice security, fraud prevention, and other telephony considerations as part of solution architecture.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, implementation, project management, and managed services teams to ensure proposed solutions can be successfully delivered and supported.
• Contribute technical content to proposals, scopes of work, RFP/RFI responses, design documentation, customer presentations, and workshops.
• Present solution recommendations and technical concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant Unified Communications, Contact Center, and enterprise voice technologies to support customer solution development.
• Travel as needed for customer meetings, discovery sessions, on-site engagements, internal meetings, conferences, and manufacturer events.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with enterprise voice and Unified Communications technologies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Avaya solution design process and experience designing Avaya-based customer solutions.
• Strong technical knowledge of the Avaya Aura suite, including technologies such as Communication Manager (CM), Application Enablement Services (AES), System Manager (SMGR), Session Manager (SM), AADS, and Messaging.
• Experience with Session Border Controllers and SIP-based voice architectures.
• Knowledge of AudioCodes technologies and their use within enterprise communications environments.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Teams Calling and Direct Routing.
• Familiarity with contact center platforms and integrations, including technologies such as Genesys Cloud and Genesys Engage.
• Understanding of carrier voice networks, third-party telephony integrations, E911, voice security, and fraud prevention considerations.
• Strong customer-facing and consultative communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discovery and solution-design discussions.
• Ability to translate customer business and technical requirements into clear, practical solution architectures.
• Strong written communication skills for developing proposals, scopes of work, RFP/RFI responses, design summaries, and other technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, problem-solving, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
• Willingness to relocate to an office location, with Portland, OR and Seattle, WA preferred and Spokane, WA, Boise, ID, or Billings, MT also available.
• Willingness to travel based on customer and business needs.

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing enterprise Contact Center solutions.
• Experience with Genesys Cloud and Genesys Engage platforms.
• Experience designing complex Avaya IP Network Region environments.
• Knowledge of AADS integrations with SSO and Active Directory for Remote Worker environments.
• Previous experience in a technical pre-sales, solution architecture, or customer-facing technology consulting role.
