Data Center Cable Technician (Entry-Level)

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Full-Time Contract (6 Months – Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire)

$20-22 an hour + Benefits

TEKsystems is seeking motivated and reliable Telecommunications Technicians to support a large-scale, fast-paced infrastructure project in Fort Wayne. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for individuals looking to build or grow a career in telecommunications, low-voltage, and network infrastructure .

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (50 hours/week required)
• Work Type: On-site / Field-based

As a Telecommunications Technician, you will play a key role in building and maintaining critical infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing and routing low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic as applicable)
• Performing rack and stack of network equipment (routers, switches, patch panels)
• Supporting telecommunications system installations and upgrades
• Troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues
• Testing and verifying cable installations to industry standards
• Assisting with device configuration and system setup (VoIP, PBX, etc.)
• Maintaining clean and organized job sites and documentation
• Following all safety protocols and best practices

We’re looking for dependable individuals who are eager to learn and take pride in their work.

• Strong interest in telecommunications, low-voltage, or IT infrastructure
• Basic knowledge of cabling, networking equipment, or electronics
• Ability to use hand tools and work in a physical, hands-on environment
• Reliable transportation and strong punctuality
• Solid work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Previous experience in telecom, construction, or low-voltage installation
• Familiarity with:
  • Cable installation and termination
  • Network hardware (routers, switches)
  • VoIP or PBX systems
• Technical certifications (nice to have, not required)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
