Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by state regulations. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance according to ANA guidelines. Engages in ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, and leadership. Strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and health system policies. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient and family advocate. Performs point of care testing as necessary. Demonstrates high standards of moral and ethical behavior. Formulates decisions and actions guided by ethical principles. Advocates for the privacy and confidentiality of patient and organizational data. Assesses the needs of patients and families and identifies potential diagnoses or issues. Develops and implements an individualized interprofessional plan of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs while employing appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates discharge planning at the time of patient contact. Ensures that documentation is accurate and timely. Assumes an autonomous leadership role and appropriately delegates to unlicensed assistive personnel. Engages in activities related to professional development and seeks to advance knowledge in nursing practice. Participates in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care. Actively participates in safety initiatives and completes all relevant safety competencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
