Senior Director, Innovation & Business Transformation

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Director to lead technology-enabled transformation initiatives within Medical Writing Science. The role involves translating strategic priorities into coordinated initiatives, managing complex cross-functional programs, and driving adoption of digital and AI solutions across scientific workflows in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate Medical Writing Science transformation priorities into coordinated initiatives with clear sequencing and success measures
- Direct execution of technology-enabled transformation programs across clinical documents, publications, knowledge management, and workflows
- Partner with subject matter experts to integrate business needs and translate requirements for digital and AI solutions
- Oversee initiatives through transformation lifecycle, ensuring governance and responsible AI requirements are consistently applied
- Lead organizational readiness and change management to embed new capabilities into business processes and ways of working
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, engineering, or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years progressive experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or technology-enabled transformation
- 3+ years leading and developing teams in complex matrixed organizations
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic priorities into coordinated transformation initiatives with measurable outcomes
- Strong understanding of AI, data platforms, analytics, automation applications in life sciences workflows
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives through implementation, adoption, and value realization phases
- Proven matrix leadership with ability to influence without direct authority and align diverse stakeholders
Compensation: $186,400 - $279,600 base
