Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiology/Pulmonary Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Telemetry, Trauma 1, and EPIC experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources, within the institution's philosophy. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards, based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies personal learning needs and takes the initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Manages care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Collaboratively identifies patient goals of care and designs and maintains care plans with patients and families. Implements interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Prepares patients for procedures, pain management, IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitors labs. Discharges patients and provides instruction for safe transition from the hospital. Documents all care using electronic medical records. Ensures team huddles occur regularly. Evaluates patients and delegates tasks with appropriate follow-up. Answers call lights and ensures basic care, such as turning and toileting, is done per standards of care. Manages conflicts effectively. Communicates professionally with all team members.
