Head, Global Oncology Pipeline, Medical Affairs

AbbVie seeks a Head of Global Oncology Pipeline Medical Affairs to lead medical strategy development across the oncology pipeline, shape evidence generation plans, and direct execution teams. The role requires interfacing with clinical development, regulatory, and commercial functions to drive differentiation and ensure successful handover to launch teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead global oncology pipeline medical, value, and evidence strategy development for all indications up to 24-36 months pre-launch
• Drive differentiation strategy by incorporating HCP, patient, and payor insights into clinical and commercial programs
• Serve as final decision maker for all pipeline strategy and decisions, representing medical affairs in governance forums
• Manage pipeline resources, redirecting teams to enterprise-critical assets as needed across the product lifecycle
• Define strategy for enterprise research MSLs in US and affiliates, tracking impact-focused KPIs and reshaping strategy based on performance

Requirements

• MD or equivalent advanced degree in oncology, hematology, or related scientific discipline
• 15+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience focused on oncology and hematology
• Expertise in clinical development, regulatory requirements, and commercialization of oncology therapies
• Proven senior-level leadership in medical affairs managing direct/indirect reports and cross-functional teams
• Strong scientific knowledge of solid tumor biology, trial design, biomarkers, and treatment modalities
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex science to diverse audiences
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25-30%
