Financial Analysis Supervisor (7123U) 86727 Department Overview Summer Sessions, Study Abroad, Lifelong Learning & University Extension (SSALLEX) is the extended education division of the University of California, Berkeley. SSALLEX enables more than 60,000 visiting and UC students, parents, faculty, academic units, international partners, and central campus service providers to participate in over 2,000 summer courses, fall freshman programs, study abroad experiences, global internships, and year‑round programs, lectures, and special events. Position Summary The Financial Analysis Supervisor 2 leads the financial services, planning, and analysis function for UC Berkeley Extension, supporting excellent financial processes and data‑driven decision‑making. Responsibilities include developing budgets and forecasts, providing expert analytical and financial reporting to senior leadership, creating complex financial models for proposed academic programs, and directing the team to deliver high levels of employee engagement and performance. Responsibilities Supervise activities related to creating, maintaining, and reporting operational budgets, forecasting, human resource planning, and policy recommendations. Oversee quarterly forecasts, multi‑year projections, monthly close, and fiscal close processes, instructor payroll, billing, and A/R functions. Lead and supervise efforts to consolidate information for department‑wide budgets and forecasts. Perform all supervisory responsibilities, including recruitment, training, coaching, employee development, conflict resolution, and performance management. Assess staff training needs in financial practices and business systems. Develop or oversee financial models for proposed academic programs, including partnership programs. Conduct breakeven, scenario, and sensitivity analyses; make recommendations on financial value and viability of proposals. Collaborate directly with CFO/CAO‑level staff to manage program finances for partnerships such as Global Access Programs and Concurrent Enrollment. Lead or supervise processes for financial execution, tracking, and reporting of such programs, utilizing assumptions in MOUs and agreements. Select, develop, and evaluate finance personnel to ensure optimal team contributions. Administer organizational policies that affect employees, such as remote work guidelines. Ensure appropriate internal controls are maintained and strengthened to protect University resources. Participate in internal or external audit activities as needed. Lead or supervise quarterly key controls variance analysis and reporting. Conduct presentations of financial or operational information concerning specific projects, such as program collaborations with partners involving revenue share. Required Qualifications Extensive knowledge of finance policies, budgeting, and reporting techniques. Solid understanding of financial and resource planning concepts and organizational budgeting control. Ability to prepare and present materials to internal and external constituents. Extensive knowledge of human resource policies, practices, and planning. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Advanced spreadsheet and database skills. Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization. Ability to handle changing priorities and direct the work of others accordingly. Ability to multitask. Experience screening applications, interviewing candidates, and making selection decisions or recommendations. Knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Client‑service orientation with strong listening, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Education / Training Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Salary & Benefits Salary range: $101,600 - $155,000. Exempt, monthly‑paid position.
