As a part-time House Mentor at EOSIS The Approach in Syracuse, UT, you'll support adolescents while gaining valuable experience in mental health, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, youth development, and residential treatment.

As a trusted mentor and role model, you'll help students develop healthy routines, emotional regulation, accountability, communication skills, and independent living skills. You'll support daily activities, facilitate goal setting, participate in community and recreational outings, and provide the guidance and support adolescents need to succeed.

Pay: $18 - $21.50 / hour
Schedule:  Saturday & Sunday - 7am - 3pm

These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Supervise and support adolescents in a residential treatment environment.
• Serve as a positive role model by providing coaching, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
• Facilitate weekly goal-setting, accountability, and check-in groups.
• Help students develop healthy coping skills, communication skills, emotional regulation, and independence
• Support daily life skills development, including budgeting, meal planning, personal responsibility, employment preparation, time management, and organization.
• Monitor and supervise students during daily routines, recreational activities, community outings, and therapeutic programming.
• Transport students to school, work, appointments, recreational activities, and community events when necessary.
• Assist with medication administration according to program guidelines and training.
• Complete daily progress notes, medication documentation, and shift logs.
• Participate in treatment planning by providing observations and clinical feedback to multidisciplinary teams.
• Implement individualized treatment goals and behavioral support strategies.
• Use verbal de-escalation and intervention techniques to support students during challenging situations.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment through active supervision and safety monitoring.
• Encourage positive hygiene, cleanliness, and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and professional development activities.
• Maintain familiarity with emergency response procedures and safety protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support program needs.

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely transport students.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor for adolescents.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and professional discretion.
• Ability to work effectively within a team-based treatment environment.
• Ability to complete required training, certifications, and annual in-service requirements.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, Education, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field.
• Experience working with adolescents, teens, youth programs, behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, education, or human services.
• CPR Certification.
• First Aid Certification.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, teaching, counseling, or supervising youth.
• Knowledge of behavior management, adolescent development, trauma-informed care, or therapeutic programming.
• Outdoor recreation, adventure therapy, or experiential education experience.
• Additional requirements include:
• Ability to actively participate in recreational and community-based activities with students.
• Ability to hike, walk, bike, and engage in other outdoor activities while supervising adolescents.
• Ability to supervise students in community, residential, educational, and recreational settings.
• Ability to respond appropriately during student behavioral or safety incidents.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both routine and crisis situations.
• Ability to maintain awareness of student whereabouts and activities at all times.

Physical Requirement:  

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to actively participate in recreational, therapeutic, and experiential activities with students.
• Ability to hike, bike, camp, kayak, rock climb, ski, or participate in other outdoor activities as required by the program.
• Ability to transport students and remain actively engaged during community outings.
• Ability to maintain awareness of student safety, behaviors, and whereabouts at all times.
• Ability to utilize approved crisis intervention and therapeutic safety procedures when necessary.
• Ability to respond quickly during student emergencies or safety concerns.
• Ability to communicate effectively in routine, therapeutic, and crisis situations.
• Ability to maintain physical stamina necessary for active adolescent behavioral health environments.
