Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for an acute care surgical services unit requiring an active IL RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

Details

Acute care setting within a Surgical Services/Operating Room unit with 5 suites averaging 20-25 cases per day.

Patient population includes general surgery, GYN surgery, urology surgery, orthopedic surgery, and podiatry surgery cases.

Common procedures include colon resections, laparoscopic general and GYN surgery, hysterectomy, nephrectomy/prostatectomy, PCNL, total knee/hip/shoulder replacement, knee and shoulder scopes, and basic podiatry cases.

Uses Epic OpTime as the charting system.

Monday-Friday schedule, 8:30am-5pm, with a varied day off every other week.

Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call rotation required approximately once every 6 weeks with a 45-minute call response time.

Floating to Ottawa required at times.

Charge nurse and house supervisor present on each shift, with charge nurse sometimes taking an assignment depending on staffing.

OR techs are available to support the surgical team.

Requirements

Active IL RN license required.

Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required; PALS preferred but not required.

Minimum 2 years of OR experience required.

Orthopedic surgery experience preferred.

Scrubbing skills preferred, though candidates without this skill will also be considered.

Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of OSF's Drug-Free Campus policy.

Additional Information

Perform circulating and/or scrubbing duties across a variety of surgical specialties.

Required to wear hospital-provided scrubs.

Unit-specific orientation held onsite the morning of the first shift.

12 hours of non-billable orientation required prior to starting the assignment.

Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate.

No radius restriction for general eligibility.

COVID vaccination is not required for consideration.
