Our History, Beliefs, and Purpose

First Southern Baptist of Chowchilla is a small church that began with a group of like-minded Christians in August 1946. In the years since then, the church has seen the attendance go up and down, but one thing that has not changed is the feeling of family and love for each other. The church has employed a bi-vocational pastor for the past 40+ years.

● Our church affirms the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the authority for all our beliefs and practices.

● We accept “The Baptist Faith and Message, 2000” as an affirmation of basic Christian beliefs and as a general statement of our faith.

● Our purpose is to become more like Jesus, by introducing people to Him, growing in faith, being known by love, and being a voice of hope.

What We Are Looking For

FSBC is looking for a passionate and faithful bi-vocational pastor to lead our congregation. We are praying for this man to be equipped and called by God to guide us into building a strong relationship with Jesus, each other, and our community. Expectations that we have as a church include:

● Being a Committed Follower of Jesus Christ, called by God to Ministry

● Align with 1 Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:5-9

● Previous Pastoral Experience

● Strong Leadership Skills

● Patience, Positivity, Flexibility

● Lifting People Up and Praying for Them

● Taking Action and Responsibility Within the Church and Community Outreach (Sharing Thoughts, Ideas, and Solutions)

● Making/suggesting Changes as Seen Fit or Needed

● Building Strong Relationships Within the Church Family

Our Commitment

We consider ourselves a family here at First Southern Baptist in Chowchilla, and we would be welcoming a new pastor and his family as one of our own. A pastor is a key role to leadership in the church, but he wouldn’t be expected to do it all alone. He would have a reliable and trustworthy team behind him to not only accomplish any goal that is set before us or that we are called to do, but that also prays for him and his family, for specific needs, and for the daily strength and perseverance to fulfill the calling that we have been given. Benefits are as follows:

● Salary available upon request

● 2 weeks of vacation per calendar year

● 2 weeks of sick leave per calendar year

● 4 sabbatical Sundays off (1 per quarter)
