Assistant Project Manager - Water & Wastewater Construction

We are a growing wastewater and municipal infrastructure contractor specializing in the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, force mains, sewer systems, and related utility infrastructure. We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of construction projects while developing the skills necessary to advance into a Project Manager role. Position Summary The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and clients to help coordinate and manage wastewater construction projects. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to build a career in municipal and utility construction management. Key Responsibilities Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of wastewater construction projects. Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents. Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project correspondence. Coordinate material procurement, equipment rentals, and subcontractor scheduling. Monitor project schedules and help identify potential delays or issues. Ensure all subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and related contract documents are fully executed prior to the commencement of work. Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items. Support monthly billing, payment applications, and project reporting. Maintain organized project files and documentation. Assist with permit applications, regulatory compliance, and safety documentation. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and coordinate with field personnel. Foster positive relationships with clients, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Qualifications Required 1-5 years of experience in construction, engineering, project coordination, or related fields. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites. Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Experience with wastewater, utility, civil, or municipal construction projects. Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Viewpoint, HCSS, or similar platforms. Understanding of public works projects and municipal contracting requirements. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
