Role Description The Patient Care Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in North Dartmouth, MA. This position is responsible for greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, and ensuring a smooth, courteous experience throughout each visit. Daily tasks include scheduling and confirming appointments, answering phone calls, verifying patient information, and coordinating care between patients, optometrists, and other team members. The Patient Care Coordinator helps patients understand their visit flow, supports the use of medical terminology and practice protocols, and assists with insurance or referral-related questions within established guidelines. This role works closely with the clinical and front office teams to maintain efficient operations, accurate documentation, and high-quality patient service. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Appointment Scheduling skills, including managing calendars, confirming visits, and handling reschedules or cancellations efficiently. Candidates should demonstrate professional Phone Etiquette, with the ability to handle multiple calls, provide clear information, and respond to patient inquiries courteously. Candidates should have Care Coordination abilities, supporting communication between patients, providers, and staff, and helping manage patient flow and follow-up steps. Candidates should be comfortable using Medical Terminology related to eye care and general health, and applying this knowledge when documenting encounters or communicating with the clinical team. Candidates should show a commitment to Patient Care, including empathy, respect, and a focus on creating a positive experience for individuals and families. Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in a medical or vision care setting, familiarity with electronic health records or practice management systems, and strong organizational and multitasking skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education in healthcare administration or a related field is a plus.
