Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 6 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic Experience - Advanced Dysrhythmia Test (83%) Description: The role involves providing care in an emergency room setting. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. The emergency room handles an average of 70 patients per day. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:3-4, depending on acuity. Candidates should be proficient in managing common emergency room drips, including pressors and sedation. The facility has 18 beds, including 4 critical rooms used for trauma or codes. There is no separate triage or holding area; holds are intermixed within the emergency room. Travelers are allowed to assist in triage duties. Security is in-house 24/7 and conducts rounds in the emergency room. There is one designated psych/seclusion room available. Transport for X-ray and CT scans is available just down the hall. Phlebotomy services are provided in the emergency room. Registered Nurses are expected to interpret telemetry strips as there are no dedicated monitor techs. Respiratory Therapists are available in the emergency room and perform ABGs and breathing treatments. Nursing staff will occasionally be asked to precept new hires. Every other weekend is required, with holiday shifts rotated among permanent staff. Self-scheduling is utilized when feasible. The dress code mandates navy scrubs, with undershirts also in navy. Orientation includes 1-3 shifts based on experience. Call-outs are strongly discouraged and may result in termination. Failure to pass required competencies may affect employment status. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shift cancellations during a 13-week assignment. Workplaces aim to accommodate the scheduling needs of travelers whenever possible.
