Java Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal software engineering training or certification, with 2+ years of practical experience
• Hands-on background in system design, application development, testing, and production support
• Strong proficiency in Java
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and SQL
• Solid relational database knowledge, including schema design, SQL tuning, and schema migration tools such as Liquibase
• Experience using approved AI-assisted development tools at work, with the ability to review and validate outputs critically
• Understanding of responsible AI practices, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resilience and security expectations
• Broad understanding of the software development lifecycle, including code review, testing approaches, release processes, and operational support
• Familiarity with agile methods and current engineering practices such as CI/CD, resiliency, and security
• Preferred: experience with Kotlin
• Preferred: familiarity with modern front-end technologies
• Preferred: working knowledge of cloud services and concepts, including AWS fundamentals such as RDS, S3, and CloudWatch, and container platforms such as EKS/Kubernetes
• Preferred: exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging such as Kafka
• Preferred: experience with containerization and platform engineering patterns, including Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
• Preferred: domain experience in financial services, capital markets, trading workflows, or portfolio management

• Design and build scalable, resilient JVM microservices using Java and/or Kotlin with the Spring Boot ecosystem
• Contribute to ongoing, iterative improvements for product teams
• Work with relational databases by designing schemas, writing and optimizing SQL, and managing migrations
• Produce or support architecture and design artifacts while ensuring software meets design constraints
• Analyze large and varied data sets to create visualizations and reporting that support continuous improvement
• Identify hidden issues and patterns in data to improve code quality and system architecture
• Contribute to engineering communities of practice and events focused on new and emerging technologies
