LPN Nursing Position

Description: Schedule: Full time or PRN available; please indicate preference in notes. Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license. Medications may include various forms such as oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may involve sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, and catheter care. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medications are available. Receive and relay information regarding the resident's medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in receiving and giving shift reports. Communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team. Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on newly admitted residents. Assist in the development of Minimum Data Set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, observations, treatment, and resident progress summaries. Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Knowledge of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice is required. Understand the effects of the aging process. Familiarity with team nursing practices and procedures is essential. Implement treatment plans for patient care. Understand pharmacological practices and procedures. Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations governing practical nursing practices is essential. Skills in observing and reporting resident behavior and progress are necessary. Ability to apply and interpret state and agency laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices. Assist in developing and implementing patient care plans within a team nursing concept. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Effective interpersonal skills are necessary. Ability to abide by nursing regulations. Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies. Evaluate, analyze, and make independent decisions regarding client health problems. Respond professionally to medical issues and inquiries. Establish and maintain effective work relationships.
