Applicants' education/experience will be considered and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level, as appropriate.Interventional Radiology Technologist IEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEAssociate’s of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program0+ years of experienceLICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONSAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R)Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)American Heart Association (BLS)America Heart Association ACLS and PALS obtained within 6 months of hireJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Interventional Radiology Technologist I position works as part of a procedural team to complete a wide variety of Interventional procedures, to include Body and Neuro Interventional procedures. This position provides direct assistance to physicians, sterilely prep/drape patients, scrub assist, and circulate during interventional procedures. This Interventional Radiology Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to Interventional Radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPromotes a positive work environment.Collaborates with all members of the patient care team.Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement.Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding.Proactively responds to patient needs.Optimizing protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors.Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies.Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments.Participates in department projects or shared governance activities.Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a technologist.WORK SCHEDULE:Must have availability Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. May be part of call rotation.SALARY RANGE:Salary commensurate with experience. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of Interventional Radiology. The Interventional Technologist II position serves as a mentor to the Interventional Technologist I and students by utilizing skills and knowledge to help train and educate others. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging Interventional procedures and patient care situations. The Interventional Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all Interventional procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.Identifies LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Assists with implementation and education of department based, safety initiatives and standards of practice.Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.
