Director of Membership & Marketing

Job Description

Willoughby Golf Club is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Director of Membership & Marketing to lead membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. This leadership role is responsible for building strong relationships with members and prospective members while promoting the Club’s traditions, values, and exceptional member experience.

The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and strategic, with a strong understanding of private club membership and a passion for hospitality and relationship building.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·Lead membership recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives to support the Club’s membership goals.

·Promote a culture of hospitality, professionalism, collaboration, creativity, and respect.

·Develop initiatives that encourage early participation, relationship-building, and long-term engagement.

·Serve as a strategic partner to the General Manager/COO and department leaders in advancing community goals. Support committees, volunteer leadership, and special projects that enhance the overall member experience.

·Build and maintain strong relationships with current members, prospective members, and their families.

·Manage the membership application process, including inquiries, interviews, tours, and new member orientation.

·Develop and coordinate membership communications, events, and engagement activities.

·Maintain accurate membership records, directories, and related systems.

·Monitor membership trends, gather feedback, and identify opportunities to improve member satisfaction and retention.

·Work closely with Club leadership and department heads to ensure consistent, high-quality member experience.

·Prepare membership reports, track progress toward goals, and assist with membership budgets and planning.

·Lead, develop, and mentor the Membership team while establishing clear priorities, expectations, and accountability.

·Represent Willoughby Golf Club professionally while promoting its reputation and community.

Qualifications

·Bachelor’s degree required in hospitality management, communications, marketing, public relations or business administration.

·Relevant professional development or certification through CMAA, PCMA, PRSA, IABC, or a comparable association is valued but not required.

·Five or more years of experience in private club management, membership services, luxury hospitality, or a related field preferred.

·Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

·Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.

·Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

·Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to outstanding member service.

·Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with membership management software preferred.

·Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events.
