Position Title: Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000 Department: English Start Date: 08/24/2026 About this opportunity: Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-trackposition for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professorof English beginning August 2026 to teach four classes eachsemester primarily in our award-winning writing program. Thisposition will be a one-year contract with possibility ofrenewal. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to beemployed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you will bring: Duties and Responsibilities: Teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winningwriting program. Instructors may also be assigned to teach courses in EnglishEducation, literature, creative writing, applied linguistics, orprofessional writing depending on faculty expertise anddepartmental needs. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or relatedfield from an accredited college or university by date ofappointment and at least one year experience teaching writing atthe college level. Preferred Qualifications: ABD or terminal degree in English,Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accreditedcollege or university by date of appointment; three or more years’experience teaching writing at the college level; experience withteaching or scholarship in one or more of these areas: EarlyAmerican Literature, English Education (with experience teachingELA in middle and/or high school and/or experience in secondarywriting instruction), Diverse or Global Rhetorics, and/or 20thCentury Modernist Literature.
