Plant Manager – BPI Minerals (RHI Magnesita Joint Venture) Location: Bessemer, AL Reports To: Director of Operations About the Role RHI Magnesita is recruiting for a Plant Manager to lead operations at BPI Minerals, a strategic joint venture partner. This position is based on‑site in Bessemer, AL and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant performance. While BPI Minerals operates as a separate company, RHI Magnesita provides support across key functions and resources. This role offers the opportunity to lead a manufacturing facility within a collaborative partnership—combining local operational ownership with the strength and expertise of a global industry leader. We are seeking a hands‑on, results‑driven leader who thrives in a fast‑paced industrial environment and can balance production goals, team leadership, safety, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Oversee all day‑to‑day plant operations, including production, maintenance, shipping, and inventory Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, operators, subcontractors, and plant personnel Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company safety standards Monitor production schedules and drive operational efficiency to meet performance targets Partner with corporate leadership, sales, logistics, and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless operations Manage workforce planning, staffing, scheduling, and employee development initiatives Ensure product quality standards are consistently met across all processes Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reliability, and cost performance Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of plant management experience with a strong focus on leadership, coaching, and team development Proven experience managing maintenance operations and industrial equipment Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and operational best practices Experience with production planning, KPIs, and operational reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with the ability to analyze data and drive decisions SAP experience preferred Ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs Salary commensurate with experience 401(k) with company match Health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off Profit sharing About RHI Magnesita RHI Magnesita is the leading global supplier of high‑grade refractory products, systems and solutions which are critical for high‑temperature processes in a wide range of industries.
