Anthropic Fellows Program Overview The Fellows Program is designed to foster AI research and engineering talent. Fellows are funded and mentored, and are expected to produce a public output such as a paper. What to Expect Four months of full‑time research Direct mentorship from Anthropic researchers Access to a shared workspace in Berkeley, California or London, UK (or remote participation for eligible candidates) Connection to the broader AI safety and security research community Weekly stipend: 3,850 USD / 2,310 GBP / 4,300 CAD plus benefits (vary by country) Funding for compute (~$15k/month) and other research expenses Interview Process The interview includes an initial application & reference check, technical assessments & interviews, and a research discussion. Compensation Base stipend: 3,850 USD / 2,310 GBP / 4,300 CAD per week, 40 hours per week, for the 4‑month program (possible extension). Workstreams AI Safety Fellows AI Security Fellows ML Systems & Performance Fellows Reinforcement Learning Fellows Economics & Societal Impacts Fellows Qualifications Motivation to make AI safe and beneficial for society Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics Experience with empirical AI research and large language models is desirable Rapid implementation of ideas and clear communication skills Fluent in Python programming Available to work full‑time on the Fellows program Background in a discipline relevant to a specific workstream (economics, social sciences, cybersecurity) is a plus Unique Candidate Criteria Experience with ML research projects Track record of open‑source contributions Logistics Must have work authorization in the US, UK, or Canada and be located in that country during the program. Visa sponsorship is not available; participants must have or independently obtain direct‑hire work authorization. Program runs for 4 months, full‑time. Fellows can apply for remote participation in the US, UK, or Canada. Program Duration & Future Opportunities The program lasts 4 months, full‑time. Fellows may receive full‑time offers based on performance; historically 25–50% receive such offers. Other Information Funding for compute and other expenses is provided.
