Early Career Environmental Planner

Job Summary WSP is seeking an Early Career Environmental Planner to join its Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Team reporting to the Creve Coeur, MO Office. The role involves providing technical environmental planning assistance to assess impacts across a range of projects nationwide. Responsibilities Assist with preparing NEPA environmental assessments, impact statements, environmental survey reports, data entry and permitting documentation. Apply impact assessment methodologies and conduct scientific research and writing. Support field and desktop data collection, identification and compilation of observational, spatial, operations and environmental data. Maintain quality control standards and statistical analysis of environmental data. Perform basic professional environmental planning work on ecological systems, habitats, air, and water resources. Utilize latest technologies and techniques for habitat and site studies and potential impact assessments. Assist in preparation for and participation in client meetings and public information meetings; organize public comment databases. Complete training and meet project schedules for assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental policy, biology, natural resources, environmental sciences or environmental engineering. 0 to 1 year of relevant environmental or planning experience. Strong oral and written communication skills; provide recent professional‑level paper sample. Effective analytical skills and experience with research techniques and data collection. Knowledge of environmental laws, permitting requirements and regulatory frameworks. Self‑leadership, attention to detail and ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment. Familiarity with office automation and communication software (Microsoft, Adobe Professional, Google Earth). Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to analyze data and achieve project objectives. Proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication tech. Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek; occasional overnight travel and field work may be required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Member of or active participation in local professional practice organizations. Prior internship related to the field.
