About the role A Technician within the Utility Division is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance and repair of utility systems, including water, sewer and related infrastructure. The role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, client requirements and regulatory guidelines. The technician works independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality service and technical expertise. What you’ll do Perform installation, maintenance and repair of utility lines and associated equipment. Operate tools, machinery and vehicles safely in accordance with company procedures. Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, verify job specifications and ensure quality standards. Assist with locating and marking utilities prior to excavation. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders and technical manuals. Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies and industry best practices. Complete accurate and timely job reports, logs and other required documentation. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members and clients about project status and needs. Support training and mentoring of junior technicians as directed. Participate in emergency response work, including after‑hours or weekend shifts as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school preferred. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Active DOT medical card preferred. Prior experience in utility work, construction or related fields preferred. Ability to pull trailers carrying large equipment. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and utility regulations. Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening and physical assessments. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools and equipment related to utility work. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and instructions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety awareness. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Team‑oriented with a commitment to reliability and professionalism.
