Executive Director of Clinical Analytics, Research andOutcomes College/School/Unit: Dell Medical School Department: Department of Cardiovascular Surgery Posted: Aug 31, 2026 Apply By: Open until filled Description The Director of Clinical Analytics, Research, and Outcomes willlead a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical researchcoordinators and quality and outcomes specialists. The ExecutiveDirector will oversee these efforts at Dell Children's MedicalCenter and collaborate across a comprehensive healthcare platformthat includes a broad range of services. The Executive Directorwill partner with clinical faculty to accomplish academic and carequality initiatives. These initiatives will expand researchinitiatives through collaborative engagements across hospitalsections as well as other aligned stakeholders within theUniversity of Texas at Austin and Ascension Texas hospitals. The primary goal of this position is to build sustainable, rigorousoutcomes and research programs that advance the science anddelivery of care for patients with congenital heart disease and their families. This will include establishing high‑qualityclinical research, a robust data infrastructure, and a continuousquality measurement platform. The incumbent will be responsible fordeveloping and maintaining data systems to measure key outcomes,leading prospective and retrospective studies, pursuing extramuralfunding, and partnering with clinical and quality teams totranslate findings into practice. This position is a faculty‑level role at the Assistant Professorlevel or above, with active participation in the education andtraining of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students;residents; postdoctoral fellows; and other trainees, as well asparticipation in the academic activities of the Departments ofCardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and Pediatrics. Key Responsibilities Set and drive the strategic direction for a comprehensiveoutcomes and research program, including clinical research and datainfrastructure for congenital heart disease care. Recruit and mentor research colleagues in successful grantwriting and acquisition and build a high-performing team. Oversee the design and conduct of clinical research studies(prospective and retrospective) and clinical registries anddatabases, ensuring feasibility and alignment with programpriorities. Lead the development and implementation of data collection, datamanagement, and analytics processes, including integration ofclinical, administrative, and patient‑reported data sources. Partner with quality and clinical operations teams to design,implement, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives that areinformed by data and research findings. Disseminate research and outcomes findings to internal andexternal audiences through reports, presentations, manuscripts,dashboards, visualizations, and other communication tools. Train faculty, staff, and trainees in research methods, datainterpretation, and best practices in outcomes and qualityresearch. Foster and create collaborations with Dell Medical Schooldepartments, UT Austin partners, and Ascension Texas to advisecomplex and strategic research and quality initiatives. Oversee, prioritize, and activate research initiatives that leadto high-impact peer-reviewed publications, conferencepresentations, and extramural grant funding. Work with theSponsored Programs Office on behalf of the researchers. Ensure the quality of research work and data, drive researchexcellence, and maintain research team compliance with relevantregulations and best practices, including human subjectsprotections, data governance, and institutional policies. Qualifications Required Qualifications Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or foreign equivalent). Demonstrated leadership or management experience. Experience building and leading clinical research teams andoperations, including oversight of data and/or quality improvementfunctions. Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative researchmethodologies and their application. Strong knowledge of biostatistics and research study design, dataarchitecture, AI, and statistical programs (e.g., R, Python, STATA,SAS, etc.). Strong knowledge of grant writing principles and bestpractices Qualifications for faculty appointment at The University of Texasat Austin Dell Medical School at the level of Assistant Professoror above. Preferred Qualifications MPH (Epidemiology, Biostatistics focus) or equivalent experiencein epidemiological or outcomes research. MBA, MHA, or equivalent experience in health care administrationor management. 5+ years of formal leadership or management experience. Clinical background and experience Experience representing outcomes and clinical research withexecutive leadership and external partners. Experience working on multiple fast‑paced research projectsacross the project lifecycle, from study design throughdissemination. Excellent communication skills, including the ability totranslate complex data and research findings for diverseaudiences.
