Our recently established pharmacy features a cutting-edge sterile compounding suite, supported by a welcoming team.

The Pharmacy Technician will prepare medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. This role involves working in an inpatient pharmacy setting, where responsibilities may include measuring, mixing, counting, labeling, and documenting medication amounts and dosages as per provider orders. Key duties include:

• Unit dose dispensing and IV admixtures
• Compounding and managing automated dispensing devices
• Ensuring proper functioning of equipment and assisting with maintenance and repairs
• Supporting the pharmacist in delivering pharmaceutical care to patients by adhering to established regulations and practices, including IV admixture preparation
• Demonstrating proficiency in understanding written policies and procedures
• Participating in departmental problem-solving as necessary
• Assisting with billing functions and quality assurance tasks
• Contributing to a safe working environment in compliance with state laws and regulations
• Utilizing multiple computer programs effectively

This position may involve various work environments, and responsibilities may differ based on the specific location or setting, including potential overlap between retail and inpatient duties.

• High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
• Iowa: As of July 1, 2010, all pharmacy technicians in Iowa must be nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). If you are enrolled in a technician training program or have not previously worked as a pharmacy technician, you must register as a pharmacy technician trainee within 30 days of starting your training or employment. Certification must be achieved within 12 months of starting.
• Minnesota: As of January 1, 2012, individuals registering for the first time as a technician must be at least 18 years old and hold an active pharmacy technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. New registrants must complete a pharmacy technician training program provided by us or an equivalent within 12 months of registration.
• North Dakota: Pharmacy Technicians must register with the ND Board of Pharmacy before beginning employment. Those applying as technicians in training must enroll in an ASHP accredited education program and obtain national certification within the timelines set by the Board to maintain licensure.
• South Dakota: Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the SD Board of Pharmacy is required within 30 days of hire. As of September 12, 2024, certification is required for specific roles, including those providing immunizations and working in remote pharmacies.
