CNC Lead Machinist - 2nd Shift

Summary The Lead CNC Machinist will report directly to the Burkert Manufacturing Manager. They will be responsible for machining mid to high complexity components. The Lead CNC Machinist should have very strong machine set‑up and troubleshooting skills. This role will require an individual with very strong communication and organization skills along with their machining ability. The Lead CNC Machinist will also be responsible to supervise production, train/mentor junior machinists/apprentices, and provide backup programming support and team management for the Manufacturing Manager. Responsibilities Analyze and ensure accuracy of work orders, drawings, blueprints, and quality specifications. Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement and maintain quality requirements. Troubleshoot CNC machines and correct any issues that may arise in production. Observe machining runs – ensure programs and machinery function properly and produce components that meet specifications. Document all steps taken through a production run to create robust setup notes to streamline future processes. Assist and train junior machinists/apprentices with any production issues that may arise. Maintain continual knowledge of production progress at each machine/cell and provide status updates to management as needed. Work closely with the Manufacturing Manager on all new projects to devise accurate and expedient solutions. Make adjustments as required to machining processes to ensure finished parts meet customer specifications. *This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected. Employee may be asked to perform other duties as required.* Requirements Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measuring devices. Strong working knowledge of all GD&T symbols and applications. Must have VERY strong and effective communication skills. Willingness and desire to learn and receive training as needed. Strong ability to pass along knowledge to junior machinists. Basic to mid-level machine maintenance knowledge. Maintaining tolerances to +/-.0005. Proficient with precision measurement tools. Education and Experience: High school diploma, or equivalent. CNC Machining: 5-10 years. VMC 4 axis experience preferred, but not required. Programming experience 1-2 years.
