Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement activities, source materials and supplies, negotiate with vendors, and ensure competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery. The role also involves managing purchase orders, maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring supplier performance, and coordinating with internal departments to support business needs.

Job Description

• Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule ( includes demonstrated ability to expedite purchases when required)
• Assists in the review of bid proposals and Microsoft  contracts with vendors to obtain the most cost-effective pricing for the company as required
• Focuses on cost-savings and improving quality and service
• Assists the Purchasing Manager in vendor sourcing and other projects as required
• Follows up on vendor deliveries and resolves any issues or discrepancies
• Maintains raw material vendors and approvals, vendor assessments, vendor evaluations, and vendor specifications
• Follows up with delivery dates and scheduling releases from blanket orders
• Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues with required purchased items
• Sources specialty and capital items for Engineering, R&D, Product Development, etc
• Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and creates purchase orders in an ERP system for the majority of raw materials
• Manages raw material vendor performance as per ISO standards
• Assists with overflow of MRO ordering when required
• Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment

Skills Required

• 3 years of relevant experience in procurement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Google Office applications including email, docs, sheets, and slides or Microsoft equivalent applications
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the chemicals industry
• Experience in or supporting the electronics industry
• Strong ERP system experience
• Demonstrated ability to implement process and system improvements
• Experience with supplier quality management systems

Education/Training/Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check  
• Ability to travel 5% to visit vendors and operating sites
• Work Schedule: Hybrid, with at least 3 days onsite per week. Mondays and Tuesdays are mandatory in the office

Pay Rate/Salary

• $31.00-$34.00/hr. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
