Medical Assistant (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Medical Assistant (Bilingual Spanish/English) – Ellis Shipp Clinic Three full‑time positions are available. The Medical Assistant performs routine duties such as assisting providers with tray set‑ups and exams, charting, obtaining vitals, ordering and preparing lab analyses, assessing patients, calling in pharmacy orders, and stocking supplies. Experience in a clinic setting is preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. Visit for wage and benefit information. Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, including taking vitals and obtaining responses to standardized medical history questions. Perform additional skills such as giving injections and immunizations, drawing blood, newborn screening, tray set‑ups, and preparing and maintaining labs. Act as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examinations as requested and assist with all procedures. Monitor and clean assigned patient exam rooms, report outdated supplies and stock levels, and restock medical supplies as needed. Answer telephones, leave complete messages with appropriate clinic personnel, and under the direction of licensed staff, schedule or reschedule appointments, procedures, and diagnostic tests; record notes, compile charts, obtain medical records, maintain CLIA logs, and enter charges for billing purposes. Call in refills to pharmacy as instructed by provider and resolve all phone messages daily. Perform new patient registration, including setting up new patient charts and determining eligibility for sliding scale; verify insurance status and update all patient information. Interact with the billing office on patient billing questions. Attend and complete mandatory education and training meetings and activities. May perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Able to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined. Demonstrated phlebotomy skills. Demonstrated human relations and communication skills. Demonstrated basic computer skills. Physical ability to withstand the demands of standing for long periods, moving and lifting patients, and handling equipment. Acknowledge exposure to potentially dangerous bodily fluids, blood, needles, and other contaminants as part of daily hazards. Must be able to pass CHC competency assessments within the first three months of employment. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and able to read, write and speak English. CPR certification. Assist in routine clerical functions, including working in the Electronic Medical Records system. Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $11.42 – $14.00 per hour, based on experience.
