Join the Discovery family, where quality and service are at the heart of everything we do!This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain Resort, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California.Homewood is seeking Summer Trail Crew to join the Trail Crew Department.Job Summary:The Summer Trail Crew performs daily mountain road and trail maintenance and improvements. The Trail Crew focuses on but not limited to; trail building and maintenance, re-vegetation, erosion control, brush cutting, timber harvest, and general mountain clean up. Physical duties include but not limited to loading/unloading of re-vegetation supplies, seed/fertilizer distribution, skidding/tree removal, mowing, and other general maintenance.Duties & Responsibilities:Perform daily maintenance and improvement of mountain roads and trailsBuild and maintain trails, including erosion control and re-vegetation effortsConduct brush cutting, timber harvesting, and general mountain cleanupLoad and unload re-vegetation supplies; distribute seed and fertilizerOperate and assist with mowing and general landscape maintenanceUtilize hand and power tools including chainsaws, weed eaters, brush cutters, and hand sawsPerform physically demanding tasks such as hiking, digging, cutting, and moving large brush, logs, and shrubsFollow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environmentCommunicate clearly and effectively with team members and supervisorsDemonstrate reliability through punctuality, accountability, and strong work ethicWork independently and collaboratively while taking and giving direction as neededSkills & Qualifications:Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skillsExperience operating and maintaining chainsaws in high alpine environments and proper chain saw etiquette preferredAbility to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work for extended periods outdoors on uneven terrainWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including varying hours and conditionsPrevious trail maintenance experience is a plusFamiliarity with Homewood Mountain Resort’s trail system preferredPossess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving recordCapable of frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movementsAble to work at high elevations for extended periodsComfortable standing and walking for long durationsWilling and able to work outdoors in all mountain weather conditionsMust be at least 18 years of agePhysical agility and balance required to hike and work on ski slopesAbility to hike while carrying up to 50 lbs, including backpack-mounted equipmentThrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, safety, and professionalismBenefits$23 - $25 hourly, Seasonal, Non-ExemptEmployee Meals (Winter Only), and Recognition ProgramsProfessional development and upward mobility opportunitiesWork-Family CultureAbout UsLocated on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, Homewood Mountain Resort is a beloved four-season destination known for its stunning lake views, intimate slopes, and commitment to personalized guest experiences.
