Job Title: Material Handler/ Order picker

Job Description

The Material Handler plays a key role in the warehouse operation by receiving, storing, and distributing products such as pipe couplings, valves, and fittings. This position ensures incoming shipments are accurate, orders are picked and packed correctly, trucks are loaded and unloaded efficiently, and inventory is maintained and stored according to established safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming shipments, verify accuracy against documentation, and report discrepancies promptly.
• Store products such as pipe couplings, valves, and fittings in designated warehouse locations following proper storage procedures.
• Pick and pack customer orders accurately using RF scanners and other warehouse technologies.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate material handling equipment.
• Perform material handling tasks including moving, staging, and organizing inventory throughout the warehouse.
• Use cherry picker, stand-up forklift, sit-down forklift, bendi forklift, and pallet jack to retrieve and transport products from racks and storage areas.
• Prepare items for shipping by packaging, labeling, and palletizing orders according to shipping requirements.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular counts, checks, and updates in inventory systems.
• Follow all safety regulations and quality standards while operating equipment and handling heavy materials.
• Manually lift and move heavy items throughout the shift as required to complete order picking and production support tasks.
• Support production and shipping activities by ensuring materials and finished goods are available and correctly staged.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to promote a safe and efficient warehouse environment.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a warehouse environment with material handling responsibilities.
• Proficiency using cherry picker forklifts for pulling products from racks.
• Ability to operate stand-up forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Ability to operate sit-down forklifts for loading, unloading, and material movement.
• Experience with bendi forklifts or similar articulated forklifts for navigating tight storage areas.
• Hands-on experience with inventory processes, including picking, packing, shipping, and receiving.
• Ability to use RF scanners for order picking, inventory tracking, and data entry.
• Proficiency using pallet jacks to move and stage pallets of product.
• Capability to manually lift and handle very heavy items throughout the workday.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking, packing, and shipping.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and quality standards in all warehouse activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in production support within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience in shipping and packaging operations, including labeling and palletizing.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with substantial overtime opportunities.
• Ability to adapt to different types of material handling equipment as needed.
• Reliability and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.
• Willingness to learn warehouse processes and expand skills with additional equipment over time.

Work Environment

This role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where temperatures can vary with the seasons. You will spend most of the day on your feet and will manually lift very heavy items after using a cherry picker to pull products from racks. The shift runs from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the option to start at 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. once fully trained, and team members typically work 50 or more hours per week. The environment is active, production-focused, and centered around safe operation of equipment such as cherry pickers, stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, bendi forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanners.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yulee, FL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
