Location: Oak Harbor, OH Job Type: Long-Term Contract with Potential for Direct Hire

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Piping Designer to join their team in Oak Harbor, OH. This long-term contract opportunity offers the potential for direct hire and is ideal for a skilled designer with extensive experience supporting power generation, energy, chemical, or refinery projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing piping designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute assignments and project activities under the direction of the Group Supervisor.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, drafters, and support personnel to achieve project objectives related to planning, scheduling, quality, and execution.
• Develop and manage piping design deliverables, including construction drawings, design studies, and bills of material.
• Coordinate and prioritize work assignments while providing guidance, mentoring, and technical support to designers, drafters, and checkers on small to medium-sized projects.
• Manage assigned portions of projects while ensuring schedules and deliverables are achieved.
• Coordinate with clients and construction personnel to ensure project requirements are accurately incorporated into designs and executed according to contractual requirements.
• Assist with engineering estimates, construction estimates, and drafting effort projections.
• Review and approve drawings to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and company drafting standards.
• Maintain engineering document indexes, drafting progress reports, and vendor drawing approval records.
• Support project documentation and design quality throughout all phases of execution.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associate's Degree with coursework in drafting or design.
• Minimum of 10 years of piping design experience within the power, energy, chemical, refinery, or industrial sectors.
• Strong understanding of engineering disciplines and project execution processes.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit, with the ability to learn additional CAD platforms as needed.
• Experience with CADWorx, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior designers and drafters.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design, or a related field.
• Certificate in Design/Drafting.
• Experience with Plant 3D and/or AVEVA E3D.
• Previous experience supporting power generation, chemical processing, refinery, or other heavy industrial facilities.
