Principal Process Development Engineer

Medtronic seeks a Principal Process Development Engineer to lead the innovation and optimization of manufacturing processes for medical device components and assemblies. The role involves process development from concept through manufacturing release, with emphasis on design reliability, statistical methods, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead innovation and optimization of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment systems
• Define robust process flows for new products and coordinate with process owners and product teams
• Own process characterization, validation, and yield monitoring activities through manufacturing release
• Perform risk assessments, lead burn-down activities, and coordinate experiments using data-driven methods
• Generate documentation and ensure compliance with quality system regulations and safety standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years relevant experience, or Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
• Experience developing processes from concept to manufacturing transfer
• Knowledge of DRM, Design for Six Sigma, or Lean Sigma methodologies
• Proficiency with DOE, statistical analysis, and data analysis tools (Minitab, JMP)
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
