Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) provides skilled nursing care to patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy, oxygen administration, and adherence to isolation precautions. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes and is expected to float within their skillset as needed. Candidates must have recent acute care experience and hold an active New York RN license.

Responsibilities:

Perform cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
Respond to emergencies including Rapid Response and Code team activations.
Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage peripheral lines.
Administer oxygen therapy using nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway devices.
Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required.
Provide direct patient care according to established nursing standards.
Chart patient care and clinical data accurately using EPIC electronic medical records.
Float within nursing skillset to other units as needed.
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios between 1:5 and 1:7.
Adhere to hospital policies including dress code requiring navy blue and white scrubs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active New York State Registered Nurse license (no pending licenses accepted).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Recent acute care experience within the past 6 months.
Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system.
Clinical skills in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy, and oxygen administration.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in Medical Surgical and Telemetry units.
Previous experience with Rapid Response or Code team participation.
Familiarity with isolation precautions and infection control protocols.

Special Considerations:

Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts (day and night) with alternating schedules.
Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday as needed.
Floating to other units within skillset may be required.
Local hiring restriction: no RNs accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility.
Scrubs color code is navy blue and white.

Scheduling:

12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, alternating.
Contract duration of 13 weeks.
Requests for time off and block scheduling must be submitted with application.
Up to three call-offs allowed by client per contract.
