Security Lieutenant
We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Security Lieutenant with our Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM). This position supervises security operations throughout the campus. General direction is received from the Chief of Security.

Responsibilities
- Supervises security staff responsible for safeguarding County property and buildings
- Recommends hires and promotions, directs, and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
- Orients and trains security officers; prepares staffing schedules
- Secures premises through monitoring visitor control sign-in and sign-out procedures and completing rounds
- Inspects doors, windows, safes, and gates to ensure they are properly secured
- Monitors the issuance and use of keys and ID badges
- Provides courteous information, assistance and direction to visitors, employees, and contractors
- Provides assistance during special events
- Initiates notification to emergency agencies (police, fire, etc.) when necessary and provides necessary assistance
- Responds to unusual conditions (leaks, odors, etc.) or emergency situations (accidents, fires, alarms, etc.)
- Monitors alarm boards, closed circuit television and security system computers
- Prepares reports and completes log sheets
- Performs duties in the absence of the Chief of Security and/or Deputy Chief of Security
Non-essential duties and responsibilities:
- Adjusts work assignments and schedules in the event of an emergency to participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as assigned
- Depending on assignment may maintain required emergency management training, licensure and/or certifications
- Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification
Supervisory responsibilities:
- Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility
Requirements Include
Requirements for this position include the following experience or equivalent combination of education and experience:
- Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
- Five (5) years of security experience in a multi-function industrial, commercial, or governmental facility of a progressively responsible nature
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
- Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver's license and a valid Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID)
The preferred candidate will have experience with digital cameras and technical security (closed circuit television systems campus-wide (CCTV) and access control system. A pre-employment background check is required.

Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for medium work.
The work environment for this position frequently includes working in extreme outside weather conditions.
$2,900 - $5,800 per month
