Saw Operator

Job Title

Set up and operate saw to cut parts by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Start up machine and understand machine control panel
• Make size adjustments
• Change blade and blade brush position
• Change blade speed and feed
• Set clamps and guides
• Stop machine
• Use calipers and micrometers
• Use overhead crane
• Verify proper steel size per order before cutting
• Measure workpieces for proper length and squareness
• Understand and documents Process Control Plan
• Perform daily inspections on equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance per instructions for machine
• Record required information, either in written or electronic form, pertinent to production, quality, and time records.
• Perform any other job-related duties per direction of supervisor or lead person.
• Follow all safety and housekeeping rules, policies, and procedures.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
