Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing quality nursing care to all patients while serving as an integral member of the nursing staff. The LPN will ensure patient rights and dignity are respected while delivering care across the lifespan, from newborns to the elderly. Responsibilities may vary depending on assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and support to patients of various age groups.
• Collaborate with Health Aides to ensure that medical rooms are adequately stocked and that checklists are completed.
• Assist in ordering medical supplies as needed.
• Screen calls and provide assistance over the phone when required.
• Support mid-level providers in the clinic after hours as needed.
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when delivering patient care.
• Adhere to the organization's mission statement in all aspects of care.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited LPN or LVN program.
• Licensure: Current LPN license in the State of Alaska in good standing.
• Minimum Experience: Preferred one year of hospital experience, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Certifications: Current CPR certification (BLS) is required. IV certification course is preferred. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is also preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work effectively in a patient care setting.
• Understanding of care practices for psychiatric patients.

Holiday coverage may be required. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain competencies for this position and utilize various office machines and medical equipment as appropriate.
