Job Summary The Production Planner creates, analyzes, and consolidates data such as work orders, product specifications, engineering drawings, parts and materials inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates to establish efficient allocation and scheduling. The goal is to achieve maximum run time, efficiencies, and inventory accuracy. Responsibilities Establish production schedules that meet customer expectations while maintaining a consistent production environment. Prepare and consolidate job documentation and instructions for shop floor activities. Analyze, plan, and manage production schedules based on equipment, material, machine, and labor capacities. Analyze current backlog job orders and adjust production plans accordingly. Develop and negotiate lead times with commercial and operation teams based on customer requirements and capacity constraints. Elevate issues to master planning for regional resolution. Monitor execution of work orders, engineering drawings, and material flow to meet established schedules. Review production plans and inventory levels to identify risks and communicate required long‑range capacity changes to the Plant Manager and Master Planner. Plan inventory management to avoid shortages and excesses. Communicate required schedule changes to purchasing, operations, and commercial teams. Develop and document process improvements for inventory, manufacturing, and production control systems to meet business objectives. Investigate production control problems, analyze root causes, and derive solutions. Build positive relationships with operation and commercial staffing to meet customer demand and productivity goals. Collaborate with materials, manufacturing, and purchasing departments to identify and resolve production planning problems. Requirements Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. 3+ years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, both internal and external. Accuracy in maintaining records. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience working in a manufacturing shop floor environment. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or comparable work experience.
