Extended Priority Application Deadline: June 10, 2026. Taft College is seeking a collaborative, student-centered professional to serve as the Campus Safety & Security Manager. Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources, this position is responsible for coordinating and supporting campus safety and security operations for students, faculty, staff, and District property. The Campus Safety & Security Manager provides leadership in emergency preparedness, campus safety operations, regulatory compliance, incident response, and security planning while fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment. The position oversees the day-to-day campus safety operations, supervises campus safety staff, supports campus events and activities, and serves as a key liaison with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies. This position also supports the District’s compliance efforts related to Title IX, student and employee conduct matters, and other campus safety-related investigations. The Campus Safety and Security Manager serves as the District’s lead investigator for assigned complaints and incidents involving campus safety, student conduct, employee misconduct, behavioral concerns, and other matters impacting campus security and community well‑being. The position works collaboratively with Human Resources, Student Services, administrators, and external agencies to ensure investigations are conducted promptly, equitably, and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, Board Policies, and Administrative Procedures. Representative Duties Coordinate and support campus safety and security operations across the District. Supervise campus safety personnel, including scheduling, training, evaluation, and operational oversight. Develop and oversee emergency preparedness and recovery plans in accordance with SEMS and NIMS requirements. Plan and participate in campus emergency preparedness and disaster response activities. Develop and implement districtwide safety training initiatives and ensure compliance with District safety training requirements. Investigate incidents occurring on campus and in residence halls and prepare related reports. Serve as the District’s lead investigator for assigned campus safety, student conduct, employee misconduct, behavioral intervention, and related complaints or incidents. Support Title IX compliance efforts by assisting with safety assessments, investigative processes, documentation, response coordination, and related training activities. Coordinate campus safety support for college events and activities. Prepare crime statistics and reports for inclusion in the District’s Annual Clery Act Report. Maintain the Daily Crime Log and ensure timely completion of all required reporting. Conduct assessments of campus safety infrastructure, including lighting, cameras, emergency communication systems, radios, and related equipment. Serve as the District’s primary operational liaison with law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies. Participate as a member of the College’s Behavior Intervention Team (BIT). Support a proactive, student‑focused approach to campus safety and violence prevention. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, security or a closely related field and 2 years of supervisory responsibility in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement. Or Associates degree in related field, and 4 years of experience in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement, and two years of supervisory responsibility in campus safety, law enforcement, or a combination of safety and law enforcement. Ability to legally carry a firearm in a California institution of higher education. Ability to successfully complete training requirements under SB 390 within 60 days of employment. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds. Equivalency to Education Experience will be converted on the basis that two years of related, full‑time experience is equal to one year of education. Desirable Qualifications Certification in Title IX training and any professionally recognized certifications in the security related field. Current California POST certification or higher. The ideal candidate will demonstrate Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of campus safety operations, emergency response, investigative practices, and security procedures. Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to campus safety, Title IX, Clery Act compliance, and higher education. Ability to conduct investigations, prepare detailed reports, maintain confidentiality, and analyze situations effectively. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies. Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. Compensation and Benefits This is a full‑time, 12‑month per year position. It offers a comprehensive fringe benefits package, including District‑paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. A generous vacation plan is available, and you may participate in the CalPers or CalStrs retirement systems, with the option to enhance your retirement savings through 457(b) and 403(b) optional retirement plans. This position is a grade 12 on the management salary schedule, with a starting range of $88,775–$101,789. It is an exempt management position.
