Cardiovascular Coordinator Registered Nurse

Overview Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health, is a leading healthcare provider in San Antonio, specializing in a wide range of medical services, from emergency care to specialized surgery. We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Coordinator Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality cardiovascular nursing care to a diverse patient population, serving as a clinical resource and liaison for physicians, patients, and families. Responsibilities As a Cardiovascular Coordinator RN, you will oversee the coordination of care for patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions across the continuum of care, including pre-admission, inpatient treatment, procedures, and discharge planning. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and therapies, monitor hemodynamic status and cardiac rhythms, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. You will collaborate closely with cardiologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure timely diagnostics, interventions, and evidence-based care. You will be responsible for facilitating patient flow through cardiovascular services, including cath lab, cardiac step-down, telemetry, and related procedural areas, helping to coordinate scheduling, pre‑ and post‑procedure education, and follow‑up. You will provide patient and family education on cardiovascular disease processes, medications, lifestyle modifications, and post‑discharge care, promoting safe transitions of care and reduction of readmissions. In addition, you will support quality improvement initiatives by tracking key outcomes, participating in data collection and audits, and implementing best‑practice protocols and clinical pathways. This position requires strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency in interpreting EKGs and cardiac monitoring, and familiarity with cardiovascular medications, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency response protocols. You will participate in rapid response and code events as needed, adhering to hospital and unit policies. You will also precept and mentor newer nurses, support staff, and students, helping to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth consistent with Methodist Hospital’s supportive and inclusive environment.
