Assistant Trek Leader (ATL) Internship Do you want to build a career in the outdoors? Would you like to first start by assisting Indiahikes trek leaders? Perhaps you wish to be a future trek leader? If so, then the ATL internship is suitable for you. The ATL Internship runs for three months and is designed as the first step in a long‑term journey with Indiahikes. The internship includes a Basic Trek Leading Course, followed by shadowing our trek leaders, and then opportunities to lead your own group. The best‑performing interns are absorbed into Indiahikes' regular workforce at the end of the internship. All ATL interns must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the internship: Minimum of 22 years old. Trek Experience: Good trek experience, preferably Himalayan. Please mention the treks that you have done. If you have trekked with Indiahikes, we prefer that. (Treks like Triund and Kheerganga do not count as experience.) Work experience in other industries is given preference. Must have excellent English and Hindi communication skills. Must follow an active fitness regimen. BMI (body mass index) must be between 18.5 and 23.9. You can run 5 km in under 30 minutes (this will be tested when you come for training). No smoking or drinking habits at all. ATLs earn a stipend of ₹20,000 per month for the 3‑month internship. During the internship, Indiahikes provides for all your living expenses, including stay and food. What does career growth at Indiahikes look like? Usually, you start with the basic work assigned to you. If you have been doing well, after 1.2 to 1.5 years of work experience, you take on more responsibilities. Nothing changes; you're just taking on more responsibility at work. For example, if you are a trek leader, you may take on some of the training load for the newcomers. If you are an ‘experience coordinator’, you may start working closely to solve the software problems in the booking system. As you become more proficient with your added responsibilities, around the 2‑year mark, the first role change happens. Usually, some responsibilities are transferred to a role assigned to you. There's a specific name and designation given to you. Around the 3‑3.5‑year mark, the next shift in responsibilities takes place. You now have a widespread experience and wisdom from working at Indiahikes. That's when the next responsibility you take on is followed by another change in role. Every role change comes with a significant salary increase. This is not an automatic process for everyone who joins Indiahikes. But it is the most likely career graph for those who are doing well in the organisation. What This Role Entails You will be one of our voices and a visual storyteller of Indiahikes on Instagram. Your job is to marry the world of trekking with the world of digital content. Key Responsibilities Content ideation and creation Ideate and produce high‑quality content daily (Reels, Static Posts, Carousels, Stories). Ensure every piece of content meets the high aesthetic and editorial standards of Indiahikes. Translate complex trekking information into engaging, digestible, and valuable content for our community. Write compelling captions that hook the reader and drive conversations. Discipline – Adhere to deadlines strictly. At Indiahikes, a deadline is a promise. You must be able to manage your time so posts go out exactly when scheduled, without fail. Growth and Distribution – Go beyond "posting." Understand the science of content distribution—how to get our content seen by more people. Use data and analytics to understand what is working. Pivot strategies based on reach, engagement, and save metrics. Stay updated on platform changes (algorithm updates, new features) and implement them immediately to keep us ahead of the curve. A content swiss army knife: You are proficient in shooting video, editing (Premiere Pro/VN/CapCut), and design (Canva/Photoshop). Trekking aptitude: You don't need to be an Everest summiter, but you must love the outdoors. You need to understand the trekker’s mindset to create value for them. The role has management, training and leadership rolled into it. The slope manager’s job is to ensure that everyone works towards the vision of the organisation, while observing our core values. You ensure that our treks run smoothly, our backend operations are flawless and trekkers get to experience the unique Indiahikes trek experience that we are famous for. You ensure every trek runs seamlessly—from logistics and operations to finances, safety, and the countless details that make the Indiahikes experience exceptional. In addition you take care of our mountain staff and Trek Leaders. You ensure that our team members have a healthy career growth. You’ll spend your days solving real problems in real conditions. One moment you could be chatting with trekkers before they begin their trek. An hour later, you may be liaising with government stakeholders, and a few minutes later, you may be overseeing a trekker’s evacuation. This role demands humility. Being a Slope Manager is a 24‑hour responsibility. You’ll live at our mountain campuses throughout the trekking season. Each season could last a few months. Professional experience: Prior work experience is essential, especially in supervisory, operations, or management roles.
