Position Type: Student Support Services Date Posted: 11/11/2025 Location: Special Services Date Available: August 2026 Closing Date: Open Until Filled School Psychologist Position Type: Full-Time School Year: 2026-2027 Location: Browning Public Schools, Montana Salary: Dependent on Experience (DOE); based on the Certified Salary Schedule in current Master Contract Benefits: Health, dental, vision, retirement, personal/sick leave Summary of Functions The School Psychologist provides comprehensive consultation, individual and group counseling, and assessment services designed to enhance students' potential to optimally benefit from educational experiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assessment - Conducts testing and diagnostic evaluations of referred students. Participates in district-wide screening and interprets results for educational planning. Case Management - Manages student cases within special education, including attendance at case conferences and maintenance of case records. Counseling - Provides individual or group therapy and behavior modification services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Technical Assistance - Offers in-service training and consults on student educational needs; supports teachers and parents. Research - Maintains current knowledge of developments in school psychology. Interagency Contact - Acts as liaison with health, social services, and juvenile court systems. Reports - Completes required assessments, behavioral reports, and service documentation. Confidentiality - Maintains strict confidentiality in all verbal and written communications. Other - Performs additional duties as required by the department. Organizational Relationships Supervised by and reports to the Director of Special Education. Qualifications Required: Master's degree in School Psychology or enrollment in an internship as part of a Montana OPI-approved endorsement program. Montana Class 6 teaching certificate with School Psychologist endorsement or willingness to enroll in an approved internship. Knowledge of psychological assessment and guidance procedures. Familiarity with Montana regulations for special education services. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze data to develop effective interventions. Capacity to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated professional work habits. Preferred: Broad experience providing psychological services across K-12 levels. Experience using curriculum-based assessment techniques. Work Environment: Work is performed in a school setting.
