Desktop Support Coordinator (Durham)

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Technology Support Coordinator to join the technology department of the local government in Durham, NC.

As the Desktop Support Coordinator, you would support the desktop and network support team by providing technical support for user equipment and general applications. This requires troubleshooting, communicating with users, coordinating with advanced support staff, prioritizing tasks by urgency, and using your strong decision-making skills to get user requests completed quickly and efficiently.

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours/week, with a pay rate of $27.00/hour. This is a contract position through our firm, though the contract is open-ended, and you are eligible to apply for permanent positions during your contract.

Responsibilities Include:

• Coordinate helpdesk services, including maintaining systems and hardware; provide technical assistance and information to users, including data access; resolve and/or screens and route inquiries to applicable personnel or vendors; and perform follow-up to ensure problem resolution.
• Assist with maintaining equipment and system operation; update systems, including assigning, adding, and/or flagging address points and other technical data; and monitor system operation, troubleshoot equipment and system malfunctions, and escalate problems in accordance with department protocol.
• Prepare and maintain reports, records, data and other documentation; research and compile information and statistics; and make recommendations to senior staff regarding improvements to user support protocols and/or ongoing systemic issues.
• Maintain computer equipment; identify purchasing needs; and inspect equipment to determine proper working condition.

Desired Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in information technology, computer science, or a directly related field.
• Three (3) years of IT technical support experience.
