The primary mandate is to build, scale, and institutionalize insurance solutions capability, with particular emphasis on Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), regulatory-aware portfolio construction, and supporting infrastructure across global insurance regimes.This role is foundational to maintain existing insurance relationships, enabling complex mandates, and scaling the platform efficiently—not solely a revenue attribution role.The Insurance Strategist serves as the technical backbone of Wellington’s insurance solutions platform, responsible for building scalable tools, systems, and processes that support insurance-specific Strategic Asset Allocation and portfolio analysis. The role enables the efficient, repeatable delivery of solutions across regions and regulatory regimes, while acting as a credible technical counterpart to actuaries, CIOs, regulators, and senior investment professionals. In addition, the role contributes to strengthening team infrastructure through the development and support of junior insurance resources.**Responsibilities**Strategic Asset Allocation & technical execution:* Lead and execute insurance-specific SAA work, including asset-liability considerations, regulatory constraints, capital efficiency, and portfolio optimization* Own and deeply understand the assumptions, mechanics, and math behind SAA modelsRegulatory expertise:* Maintain strong working knowledge of insurance regulatory regimes, including US and non-US frameworks* Apply regulatory requirements pragmatically to portfolio design and SAA outcomesInfrastructure, tools, and scalability:* Build and improve systems, tools, and workflows supporting insurance solutions* Improve efficiency, turnaround time, and quality of outputsClient engagement (technical focus):* Serve as technical authority in client discussions* Communicate complex concepts clearly to actuaries and CIOs Team leadership and collaboration:* Mentor and support junior resources* Collaborate closely with PMs, strategists, and regional teams**Essential Skills*** Deep technical background in insurance SAA, actuarial modeling, or insurance investment solutions* Strong understanding of insurance regulation and capital frameworks* Ability to build and work with quantitative models and analytical tools* Experience scaling insurance solutions infrastructure* Ability to translate technical outputs into client-ready explanations* Collaborative leadership style **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS*** Faster, cleaner, more scalable insurance SAA and regulatory work* Strengthened technical credibility with clients and regulators* Supported and retained junior team members through repeatable processes and coaching* A scalable global insurance solutions platform with consistent, high-quality outputsNot sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? The base salary range for this position is:USD 120,000 - 225,000This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education.
