Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Shift: 12H Night

Contract Length: 18 weeks

Requirements:

• Required Licenses: NY nursing license, or proof of application with applied date
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
• Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience required; minimum of 1 year experience in specialty required
• EMR: Epic experience from within the past 2 years

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the Progressive Care Unit, focusing on acute inpatient care.
• Monitor patients with conditions requiring closer observation and management, including but not limited to cardiac diagnoses, acute coronary syndrome, and heart failure.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies, including insulin and cardiac drips, as per protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and health management strategies.
• Contribute to unit operations by participating in float team responsibilities as needed.

Compliance / Notes:

• All travelers must be prepared to work a minimum of every other weekend and/or adjust schedules to meet unit needs.
• Travelers must work 2 out of 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve.
• Public transportation is not accessible in the area; reliable transportation is recommended.
• Dress Code: Scrubs (navy blue or white) - closed toe nonskid shoes; minimal jewelry; hair groomed in a professional manner; no artificial nail polish.
