Senior Software Engineer (Java / Spring Boot / PL/SQL) About the role As a Senior Software Engineer (Java / Spring Boot / PL/SQL) (Hybrid), you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, high-performance applications that support critical business outcomes. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with cross‑functional stakeholders including product owners, architects, and delivery teams. In this role, you will: Design and develop scalable, efficient software solutions using Core Java, Spring Boot, and PL/SQL Build and maintain APIs and microservices to enable seamless system integration Implement and optimize database solutions using MySQL and Oracle, ensuring performance and data integrity Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and drive best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables Work model We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring up to 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Huston, TX . You must be legally authorized to work in the USA without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future What you need to have to be considered Proven experience with Core Java and Spring Boot in enterprise application development 8 years of experience in Java applications. Strong expertise in PL/SQL and database technologies (MySQL, Oracle) Experience developing REST APIs and microservices , working with JSON Hands‑on experience with Git for version control and collaborative development Proficiency working in Linux environments , including deployment and configuration These will help you stand out Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and optimizing application performance Ability to mentor team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams Proactive mindset with a passion for exploring new technologies and innovation Salary and Other Compensation Applications will be accepted until July 30th, 2026. The annual salary for this position is between $63,000 and $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
