Job Title Food Safety Operations Manager

The North American Food Safety Team ensures that all sites meet Food Safety criteria and regulatory requirements They collaborate with a diverse range of internal stakeholders to implement comprehensive policies and procedures across the fulfillment network They excel at translating food safety initiatives into clear actionable guidelines facilitating seamless adoption across the fulfillment network

Key job responsibilities

• Maintain a robust set of compliance metrics and key performance indicators to measure output performance track progress and identify areas for improvement in food safety programs
• Execute rapid response protocols for food safety incidents to investigate resolve and document comprehensive corrective actions
• Project manage complex largescale food safety escalations across multiple sites establishing clear action plans tracking deliverables and driving accountability for timely closure while maintaining appropriate communication channels with senior leadership for critical updates and resource needs
• Demonstrate proven ability to influence and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders at all levels from site operations to senior leadership effectively balancing competing priorities while maintaining food safety compliance standards and driving program adherence across multiple facilities
• Analyze escalation patterns and root causes to identify systemic issues informing audit priorities and presenting findings to senior leadership
• Participate in an on-call rotation including weekend coverage with up to 60 travel to support food safety incidents and program implementation across the network
• Compose and edit detailed business review documents to effectively communicate food safety improvement initiatives
• Leverage deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Code of Federal Regulations Food Safety Modernization Act and FDA guidelines to ensure audit processes and corrective actions align with current standards Investigate and analyze customer complaints and trending data related to food safety ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolution while identifying systemic issues for continuous improvement

A day in the life

Your day starts reviewing overnight incidents and monitoring KPI dashboards before joining the daily food safety status call. Mornings involve responding to site managers questions and documenting corrective actions. Afternoons include leading cross-functional incident analyses conducting site audits updating protocols and training teams via video conference. Days can pivot quickly when critical incidents arise requiring immediate containment coordination and stakeholder communication. Whether onsite auditing analyzing data or managing emergencies no two days are alike. The day ends with documentation updates and ensuring overnight teams have support with on-call availability for critical issues

Basic qualifications

• 3 plus years of managing food safety and quality in a largescale retail or manufacturing environment experience
• Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
• Experience in program or project management
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
• Travel up to 80% of the time
• Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
• Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field
• Experience applying Food Code requirements across local state and federal food regulations

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in online retail operations or similar field
• Experience creating and implementing largescale programs
• Experience working independently with minimal supervision or experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities
• Can work proactively and independently meet deadlines and deliver on projects and tasks 3 years of project management experience
• Masters degree in Food Science or related field Demonstrated ability to write clear concise and compelling narratives

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Seattle,WA.
