Reports To: Director or Special Education and Director of Federal Programs/Instructional Supervisor Qualifications A master’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position. Hold a valid Kentucky educational certificate for the assigned position OR a valid Kentucky Speech‑Language Pathology License. Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license. Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications. Specific Performance Responsibilities and Duties Provide comprehensive services for students with speech and/or language disorders, following state and district rules, regulations, and procedures. Implement screening procedures to identify students who are in need of corrective speech, language, and/or hearing instruction. Participate on the Intervention Team and ARC when students with communication disorders are referred to the teams. Use observation, conferences with the instructional staff, and various assessment techniques to make diagnostic evaluations. Participate in the team conferences and communications with parents and students and recommend intervention strategies and Individual Education Plan goals/activities. Monitor the IEPs implementation and participate in the annual review. Plan and deliver treatment for students with speech, language, and/or hearing deficiencies in individual and small group settings. Assist with referrals of students to agencies and resources in the community when appropriate. Provide regular evaluation of students receiving speech, language, and hearing specialized instruction to determine the effectiveness of services. Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required by law and regulation or requested by the Director of Special Education, Principal, ARC chairperson, RTI chairperson, or Director of Pupil Personnel. Demonstrate an understanding of the current rules and regulations regarding special education assessment, Response to Intervention, and program requirements. Assist the instructional staff through conferences, consultations, observations, and demonstrations with classroom organization and the implementation of effective instructional strategies and materials for students with speech, language and hearing disorders. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines. Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the supervisor. Attend required staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees. Take the necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Adhere to the Trimble County Board of Education Policies and Procedures. Physical Requirements: Light Work Ability to lift at least 20 pounds. Ability to sit, lift, stoop, push, pull, and perform all body movements as relates to the job description. Ability to push, pull, or lift exerting up to 10 pounds of force. Peripheral – observing an area that can be seen up and down or right and left when eyes are fixed on a given point.
