Travel OR RN – 13‑Week Assignment – Madisonville, KY Company: Fusion Medical Staffing Location: Facility in Madisonville, Kentucky Overview Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13‑week travel assignment in Madisonville, Kentucky. The OR RN will provide comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Responsibilities Prepare the operating room, ensuring instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety. Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly. Monitor patient condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols. Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Qualifications Minimum 1 year recent experience as an Operating Room RN. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA/ARC). Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA/ARC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (AHA/ARC), or Emergency Nursing Practitioner Certificate (ENPC). Preferred: OR Nursing Certification (CNOR). Essential Skills and Abilities Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication. Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication in English. Able to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient PC skills. Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push/pull, and bend. Ability to work effectively with various personnel, presenting a positive attitude and professionalism. Fine motor skill and ability to assist with procedures and use department equipment. Ability to manage stress, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain focus with irregular schedules.
