CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE - TCU- Per Diem

Certified Nurse Aide - TCU- Per Diem

Gives resident care and reports pertinent observations, changes, and reactions regarding resident to the appropriate person.

Job duties include giving resident care under the supervision of a professional nurse or LPN, assisting with restorative nursing procedures, obtaining vital signs, weight, height, intake, output and specimens, demonstrating knowledge of hospital and T.C.U. policies and procedures, making regular rounds to all residents and providing necessary care, performing errands when asked, demonstrating cost-conscious use of supplies, maintaining equipment in a clean and safe manner, performing other duties as directed by the charge nurse or nurse manager, answering call lights promptly, obtaining/performing EKGs as ordered, demonstrating knowledge of the proper use of the Hover Matt, Faarborg lift, Hoyer lift, and proper placement of bed/chair alarms, performing duties relevant to therapies, participating in the orientation of new staff, assuming personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education, using appropriate measures of infection control, choosing the correct form for reporting staff safety incidents, appropriately handling hazardous chemicals in the department, recognizing and reporting findings outside the normal range for this age group, communicating and serving as a liaison between resident's family and services needed, demonstrating the ability to provide age specific dietary considerations.

Specific job demands include strength, stooping, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, near acuity, accommodation, color vision.

Minimum education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required include professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, current state certification as a nursing assistant, BLS required.

Working conditions include normal resident care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature changes, subject to certain distasteful resident care activities and exposure to communicable diseases, may be scheduled overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours, may be exposed to potential hazards such as chemical wastes, body wastes, fluids and other possible infectious material.
