Consultant, Translational Informatics and Scientific AI Workflows About the Engagement VivaMed is seeking a consultant with experience in translational informatics, computational biology, biomedical data workflows, and AI-enabled drug discovery operations to help structure the evidence layer behind VivaMed's internal triage process. A key challenge in AI-assisted therapeutic hypothesis generation is not producing more ideas. It is ensuring that hypotheses are traceable, comparable, reproducible, scientifically screened, and evaluated through consistent decision logic before external validation or CRO engagement. This role is not a generic AI engineering role. The goal is to make AI-assisted therapeutic hypotheses scientifically auditable, evidence-bounded, and decision-ready. Core Mission The consultant will help build the workflow infrastructure that connects AI-assisted hypotheses to scientific evidence, scoring logic, review templates, triage decisions, and validation-planning outputs. The role should improve reproducibility, traceability, and scientific quality control across VivaMed staged hypothesis review and validation-readiness workflow, while ensuring that outputs remain scientifically interpretable and useful for drug discovery decision-making. Key Responsibilities Help standardize workflows for reviewing AI-assisted therapeutic hypotheses. Build or improve reproducible processes for evidence capture, scoring, ranking, filtering, and reporting. Support structured triage across drug repurposing, combination therapy, biomarker-defined rescue, selected formulation or route concepts, and selected biologic or biobetter concepts. Develop templates and data structures for structured hypothesis review, prioritization, and validation-readiness packages. Improve evidence traceability from hypothesis source to supporting data, contradictory evidence, decision rationale, and recommended next step. Integrate relevant public and internal data sources, potentially including literature, drug labels, safety, disease-biology datasets, and real-world evidence sources. Support biomarker and patient-stratification workflows where relevant, including public omics, genetics, expression, clinical-subgroup, and disease-context data. Build structured outputs that allow hypotheses to be compared across categories and reviewers. Help identify inconsistencies, unsupported claims, weak evidence chains, duplicated hypotheses, or AI-generated overstatements. Collaborate with translational, pharmacology, biology, computational, and CRO-facing stakeholders to ensure workflow outputs are scientifically interpretable. Support dashboarding, structured reports, or data products that improve portfolio-level visibility Relevant Program Areas The consultant may support workflows across: Drug repurposing Combination therapy Biomarker-defined rescue or CDx-related concepts CNS, pain, addiction, and cardiometabolic disease prioritization Selective IO or immunology opportunities Formulation or route concepts requiring structured risk-flagging Selected biologic or biobetter concepts Clinical feasibility, 505(b)(2)-relevant evidence organization, and prior human-data review workflows Standardized hypothesis review and prioritization templates Validation-planning and project-readiness templates Evidence-traceability frameworks Reproducible scoring and ranking workflows Structured hypothesis-review databases Biomarker or subgroup evidence summaries Portfolio triage dashboards or structured reports Version-controlled documentation of assumptions, evidence sources, scoring logic, and decision rationale Required Qualifications PhD preferred, or MS with significant pharma-facing experience, preferably 10 to 15+ years, in translational informatics, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical data science, systems biology, scientific software, or a related discipline. For this role, equivalent experience may be considered if the candidate has demonstrated success building scientifically rigorous, drug discovery-relevant informatics workflows, R&D workflows, or therapeutic-area decision support. Strong Python and/or R skills for scientific data processing, analysis, automation, and reproducible reporting. Experience working with biomedical datasets such as literature-derived evidence, clinical-trial resources, drug labels, or real-world evidence. Ability to translate noisy, heterogeneous data into structured scientific outputs. Understanding of enough biology, pharmacology, and drug discovery to recognize when a computational output is not scientifically meaningful. Strong documentation and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AI-assisted drug discovery, knowledge graphs, scientific workflow automation, evidence synthesis, biomedical ontologies, or portfolio-level decision tools. Familiarity with public resources such as ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed, Open Targets, ChEMBL, FDA labels, or similar resources. Experience with biomarker or patient-stratification workflows. Experience creating reproducible notebooks, structured reports, dashboards, or version-controlled scientific workflows. Familiarity with CRO-facing or preclinical validation workflows. Experience in pharma, biotech, CRO, or translational research environments. What This Role Is Not This is not a generic software engineering role and not an AI-hype role. The consultant must understand that workflow quality is measured by better scientific decisions, not by model novelty alone. Candidates who can build pipelines but cannot help determine whether outputs are scientifically traceable, evidence-bounded, and useful for drug discovery triage are unlikely to be the right fit. Engagement Structure This is initially envisioned as a consultant or fractional expert engagement. Scope may be structured around workflow design, template development, evidence-integration infrastructure, AI-output QC, scoring-system improvement, or support for defined hypothesis-review batches.
