Social Worker I - Surgery

Summary The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (TACS), is seeking three clinically licensed social workers to provide culturally responsive, evidence‑based care to survivors of violence, including adults, children, and families. This multidisciplinary clinic will conduct trauma‑informed clinical care, case management, group supervision, and ongoing training in a new and dynamic environment. Education, Training, and Experience Required MSW or DSW education, or equivalent post‑bachelor’s experience. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Wisconsin, or Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) with Wisconsin provider status, and passing the ASWB Clinical Exam. Minimum 3 years of experience; preferred 3,000 hours of post‑bachelor’s supervised experience. Experience in evidence‑based care for trauma‑related disorders (e.g., prolonged exposure therapy, cognitive processing therapy). Primary Responsibilities Clinical Intervention, Consultation, Psychotherapy, Outreach and Case Management Conduct trauma‑informed intakes of new clients and identify service needs, including assessment of presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM‑5 diagnosis. Provide short‑term, trauma‑informed individual and group psychotherapy, comprehensive clinical case management, liaison with other health‑care providers, and referral to community services. Manage a caseload of complex clients with histories of trauma, substance‑abuse problems, and concurrent medical or psychosocial issues. Maintain familiarity with local mental‑health, medical, and community resources. Develop comprehensive treatment and service plans that integrate a wide range of human‑service resources, addressing chronic physical and sexual abuse and other forms of interpersonal violence. Clinical Supervision, Teaching, Training, and Program Development Provide supervision to clinical interns. Participate in in‑service trainings and case conferences. Conduct community presentations. Assist with program development, including the implementation of measurement‑guided mental‑health treatment. Record‑Keeping, Administration, and Other Duties Maintain client records according to Wisconsin requirements and record data in the client chart. Meet program productivity standards; complete productivity forms, clinical documentation, and other documentation of services in a timely manner. Engage in all required trainings for the TRC. Assist in processing quality‑improvement requests and data collection for program evaluation and research; collaborate with the TRC Research Team. Attend staff meetings and other assigned meetings; participate in training sessions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Work requires occasional lifting of moderate‑weight materials, standing, or walking continuously. Work Environment Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids in an environmentally controlled environment.
